Written in an elegant, handwritten French dip-pen cursive script, the antique cataloging reads “Jacamar vert, Galbula - Guyane” - accurately tracing its origins back to the tropical rainforests of French Guiana.
Unlike the mysterious label swaps common in the historic European trade, this specimen remains a perfectly documented. In the wild, these birds are known as "living jewels" due to their intense, highly iridescent plumage that shifts dynamically from emerald green and deep teal to burnished copper depending on how the light catches it.
